What makes a good primer and what’s the point? Putting on primer before your makeup helps create a surface for your makeup to stick to and sometimes for hours on end. Not only that, but some primers can actually fill in pores and smooth out fine lines so your foundation can appear flawless. Here’s a list of my favorite primers.

E.L.F. Poreless Putty Primer — $8

It’s affordable, it’s matte, and you can get at almost any major retailer and drugstore! You’ve probably seen this primer everywhere and that’s for a good reason, it’s amazing…especially for the price! This is one you should always have in your arsenal.

E.L.F. Jellypop Dew Primer — $8

Prefer a dewy look? You have to try the e.l.f. Jellypop. It’s has a sticky base and works great for my lighter coverage days. Did I mention it’s a dupe for the Milk Hydro Boost Primer at a fraction of the cost?

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Mattifying Primer — $32

It smells really nice and feels lightweight. This primer can give you an airbrushed look even for lighter wear days. It stays on all day and never gets cakey.

Pur 4-in-1 Correcting Primer — $33

I first tried this when it came in a Boxycharm Box and I’m so glad I did. It says it energizes and rescues your face and I completely agree. It has Aloe, Coconut Water, and Probiotics in it to make you feel refreshed and like you’re really doing your face a favor. I like to use this with my tinted moisturizer for lighter days.

Benefit POREfessional Primer — $32

I live and breathe by this one. I have nothing else to add except it’s worth everything. We all need this to achieve a completely flawless look!

Final Thoughts:

There are so many primers out there great for so many different looks. Hopefully, this list can get you started whether you’re looking for an affordable matte or dewy look, or are ready to dive into a primer for a flawless airbrushed look.
